This unit is geared towards helping students understand what goes into creating an argument. Students will create their own portfolio where they record their research that supports their claim and research the refutes it, practice argumentation examples, and rubric. Through this unit, students learn that through argumentation and research they can build critical thinking skills. They also practice writing well to provide increased abilities in communication.
Summative Assessment: Students will create an argumentative portfolio that contains all work that led up to their final essay. They will turn this in at once for a full grade (see Argumentative Standards rubric.
